  Indian foreign policy – a success story The demise of Soviet Union in early 90s was a watershed event for Indian foreign policy makers. From Independence till early nineties India started as a Non Aligned country after independence. India was neither a fully capitalist nor communist country and did not wish to be caught between the power games of the two blocs.
